Magneton sits at 9/130 in Base Set 2, position 9 of 130. Before it is 8 Hitmonchan, and after it is 10 Mewtwo. The set belongs to the Base series. It was released on February 24, 2000. The printed size is 130, and the checklist is the same length. The listed rarity is Rare Holo.

The attack Thunder Wave lists 30 damage. The cost is Lightning, Lightning, Colorless. Flip a coin. If heads, the Defending Pokémon is now Paralyzed. Selfdestruct is another attack lists 80 damage. The cost is Lightning, Lightning, Colorless, Colorless. Does 20 damage to each player's Bench. (Don't apply Weakness and Resistance for Benched Pokémon.) Magneton does 80 damage to itself. Weakness is Fighting ×2. Retreat cost is 1. The flavor text reads "Formed by several Magnemites linked together. It frequently appears when sunspots flare up."

Magneton (#082) has 44 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 33 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2025. The earliest other card is Magneton 9/102 in Base (1999). Both list 60 HP. Both list the rarity Rare Holo. 41 other cards of Magneton list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads Keiji Kinebuchi. I count 212 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

Base Set 2 set binder is where a full Base Set 2 set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Magneton can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). I still need this card.
