Articuno 2/110 · Legendary Collection

Legendary Collection is a set in the Other series. It was released on May 24, 2002. The printed size is 110, and the checklist is the same length. Articuno is 2/110, in position 2 of 110 on this checklist. Before it is 1 Alakazam, and after it is 3 Charizard. The listed rarity is Rare Holo.

Articuno is a Basic Water Pokémon with 70 HP. The card lists level 35. In the Pokédex this is Articuno (#144), generation 1 (Kanto).

Mitsuhiro Arita illustrated this card. The same name is on 721 other cards in the catalog.

Articuno (#144) has 45 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 29 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2026. The earliest other card is Articuno 22/53 in Wizards Black Star Promos (1999). Both list 70 HP. The rarity there is Promo, and here it is Rare Holo. Toshinao Aoki illustrated that card, and Mitsuhiro Arita illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 1, and here it is 2. 41 other cards of Articuno list a different HP.

The attack Freeze Dry lists 30 damage. The cost is Water, Water, Water. Flip a coin. If heads, the Defending Pokémon is now Paralyzed. Blizzard is another attack lists 50 damage. The cost is Water, Water, Water, Water. Flip a coin. If heads, this attack does 10 damage to each of your opponent's Benched Pokémon. If tails, this attack does 10 damage to each of your own Benched Pokémon. (Don't apply Weakness and Resistance for Benched Pokémon.) Resistance is Fighting -30. Retreat cost is 2. The flavor text reads "A legendary bird Pokémon that is said to appear to doomed people who are lost in icy mountains."

I keep a set binder for Legendary Collection, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Legendary Collection set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Articuno can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). Themed lists that include this exact card are Mitsuhiro Arita cards. I still need this card.
