Blastoise 16/101 · Plasma Blast

Plasma Blast is a set in the Black & White series. It was released on August 14, 2013. The printed size is 101. This checklist is longer, at 105 cards. Blastoise is 16/101, in position 16 of 105 on this checklist. Before it is 15 Wartortle, and after it is 17 Lapras. The listed rarity is Rare Holo.

Blastoise is a Stage 2 Water Pokémon with 140 HP. In the Pokédex this is Blastoise (#009), generation 1 (Kanto). The card says it evolves from Wartortle. In this catalog that name is Wartortle (#008).

Satoshi Shirai illustrated this card. The same name is on 50 other cards in the catalog.

Blastoise (#009) has 44 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 26 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2024. The earliest other card is Blastoise 2/102 in Base (1999). That card lists 100 HP, and this one lists 140 HP. Both list the rarity Rare Holo. Ken Sugimori illustrated that card, and Satoshi Shirai illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 3, and here it is 4. 42 other cards of Blastoise list a different HP.

Deluge is listed as Ability. As often as you like during your turn (before your attack), you may attach a Water Energy card from your hand to 1 of your Pokémon. The attack Hydro Pump lists 60+ damage. The cost is Colorless, Colorless, Colorless, Colorless. Does 10 more damage for each Water Energy attached to this Pokémon. Weakness is Grass ×2. Retreat cost is 4. The flavor text reads "The jets of water it spouts from the rocket cannons on its shell can punch through thick steel."

I keep a set binder for Plasma Blast, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Plasma Blast set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Blastoise can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). I still need this card.
