Zekrom-EX 51/99 · Next Destinies

Next Destinies is a set in the Black & White series. It was released on February 8, 2012. The printed size is 99. This checklist is longer, at 103 cards. Zekrom-EX is a Basic EX Lightning Pokémon with 180 HP. In the Pokédex this is Zekrom (#644), generation 5 (Unova).

Shizurow illustrated this card. The same name is on 79 other cards in the catalog.

Zekrom (#644) has 35 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 20 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2011 to 2026. The earliest other card is Zekrom BW005/101 in BW Black Star Promos (2011). That card is named Zekrom, while this one is Zekrom-EX. That card lists 130 HP, and this one lists 180 HP. The rarity there is Promo, and here it is Rare Holo EX. 5ban Graphics illustrated that card, and Shizurow illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 2, and here it is 3. 31 other cards of Zekrom list a different HP.

The attack Glinting Claw lists 50+ damage. The cost is Lightning, Colorless, Colorless. Flip a coin. If heads, this attack does 30 more damage. Strong Volt is another attack lists 150 damage. The cost is Lightning, Lightning, Colorless, Colorless. Discard 2 Energy attached to this Pokémon. Weakness is Fighting ×2. Retreat cost is 3. The card text says: Pokémon-EX rule: When a Pokémon-EX has been Knocked Out, your opponent takes 2 Prize cards.

I keep a set binder for Next Destinies, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Next Destinies set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Zekrom can fill a slot in Generation 5 binder (Unova). I still need this card.
