Blastoise 31/149 · Boundaries Crossed

Blastoise is Pokédex #009, generation 1 (Kanto). Blastoise is a Stage 2 Water Pokémon with 140 HP. The card says it evolves from Wartortle. In this catalog that name is Wartortle (#008).

Blastoise sits at 31/149 in Boundaries Crossed, position 31 of 153. Before it is 30 Wartortle, and after it is 32 Psyduck. The set belongs to the Black & White series. It was released on November 7, 2012. The printed size is 149. This checklist is longer, at 153 cards. The listed rarity is Rare Holo.

Deluge is listed as Ability. As often as you like during your turn (before your attack), you may attach a Water Energy card from your hand to 1 of your Pokémon. The attack Hydro Pump lists 60+ damage. The cost is Colorless, Colorless, Colorless, Colorless. Does 10 more damage for each Water Energy attached to this Pokémon. Weakness is Grass ×2. Retreat cost is 4. The flavor text reads "The jets of water it spouts from the rocket cannons on its shell can punch through thick steel."

Blastoise (#009) has 44 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 26 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2024. The earliest other card is Blastoise 2/102 in Base (1999). That card lists 100 HP, and this one lists 140 HP. Both list the rarity Rare Holo. Ken Sugimori illustrated that card, and Satoshi Shirai illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 3, and here it is 4. 42 other cards of Blastoise list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads Satoshi Shirai. I count 50 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

Boundaries Crossed set binder is where a full Boundaries Crossed set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Blastoise can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). I still need this card.
