Steelix 79/116 · Plasma Freeze

Steelix is Pokédex #208, generation 2 (Johto). Steelix is a Stage 1 Team Plasma Metal Pokémon with 150 HP. The card says it evolves from Onix. In this catalog that name is Onix (#095).

Steelix sits at 79/116 in Plasma Freeze, position 79 of 122. Before it is 78 Hydreigon, and after it is 80 Mawile. The set belongs to the Black & White series. It was released on May 8, 2013. The printed size is 116. This checklist is longer, at 122 cards. The listed rarity is Rare.

The attack Metal Defender lists 50 damage. The cost is Metal, Colorless, Colorless. During your opponent's next turn, this Pokémon has no Weakness. Heavy Impact is another attack lists 100 damage. The cost is Metal, Colorless, Colorless, Colorless, Colorless. Weakness is Fire ×2. Resistance is Psychic -20. Retreat cost is 4. The flavor text reads "The iron it ingested with the soil it swallowed transformed its body and made it harder than diamonds."

Steelix (#208) has 33 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 23 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2000 to 2025. The earliest other card is Steelix 15/111 in Neo Genesis (2000). That card lists 110 HP, and this one lists 150 HP. The rarity there is Rare Holo, and here it is Rare. Ken Sugimori illustrated that card, and 5ban Graphics illustrated this one. 32 other cards of Steelix list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads 5ban Graphics. I count 1,629 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

Plasma Freeze set binder is where a full Plasma Freeze set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Steelix can fill a slot in Generation 2 binder (Johto). I still need this card.
