Raichu BW78/101 · BW Black Star Promos

BW Black Star Promos is a set in the Black & White series. It was released on March 1, 2011. The printed size is 101, and the checklist is the same length. Raichu is BW78/101, in position 78 of 101 on this checklist. Before it is BW77 Pikachu, and after it is BW79 Landorus. The listed rarity is Promo.

Raichu is a Stage 1 Lightning Pokémon with 100 HP. In the Pokédex this is Raichu (#026), generation 1 (Kanto). The card says it evolves from Pikachu. In this catalog that name is Pikachu (#025).

Mizue illustrated this card. The same name is on 184 other cards in the catalog.

Raichu (#026) has 70 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 51 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2026. The earliest other card is Raichu 14/102 in Base (1999). That card lists 80 HP, and this one lists 100 HP. The rarity there is Rare Holo, and here it is Promo. Ken Sugimori illustrated that card, and Mizue illustrated this one. 66 other cards of Raichu list a different HP.

The attack Quick Attack lists 30+ damage. The cost is Lightning, Colorless. Flip a coin. If heads, this attack does 20 more damage. Thunder Blast is another attack lists 90 damage. The cost is Lightning, Colorless, Colorless. Discard an Energy attached to this Pokémon. Weakness is Fighting ×2. Retreat cost is 1. The flavor text reads "Its tail discharges electricity into the ground, protecting it from getting shocked."

I keep a set binder for BW Black Star Promos, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the BW Black Star Promos set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Raichu can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). I still need this card.
