Phanpy 66/95 · Call of Legends

Call of Legends is a set in the HeartGold & SoulSilver series. It was released on February 9, 2011. The printed size is 95. This checklist is longer, at 106 cards. Phanpy is a Basic Fighting Pokémon with 60 HP. In the Pokédex this is Phanpy (#231), generation 2 (Johto). The card lists Donphan, Donphan (#232) under evolves to.

Ken Sugimori illustrated this card. The same name is on 1,112 other cards in the catalog.

Phanpy (#231) has 19 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 18 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2000 to 2026. The earliest other card is Phanpy 43/111 in Neo Genesis (2000). That card lists 40 HP, and this one lists 60 HP. The rarity there is Uncommon, and here it is Common. Retreat cost there is 1, and here it is 2. 18 other cards of Phanpy list a different HP.

Ultra-Thick Skin is listed as Poké-Body. As long as Phanpy has Energy attached to it, any damage done to Phanpy by attacks is reduced by 10 (after applying Weakness and Resistance). The attack Rock Smash lists 20+ damage. The cost is Fighting, Colorless. Flip a coin. If heads, this attack does 20 damage plus 10 more damage. Weakness is Water ×2. Resistance is Lightning -20. Retreat cost is 2. The flavor text reads "As a sign of affection, it bumps with its snout. However, it is so strong, it may send you flying."

I keep a set binder for Call of Legends, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Call of Legends set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Phanpy can fill a slot in Generation 2 binder (Johto). I still need this card.
