Hypno 19/106 · Great Encounters

Hypno is Pokédex #097, generation 1 (Kanto). Hypno is a Stage 1 Psychic Pokémon with 80 HP. The card lists level 28. The card says it evolves from Drowzee. In this catalog that name is Drowzee (#096).

Hypno sits at 19/106 in Great Encounters, position 19 of 106. Before it is 18 Houndoom, and after it is 20 Kingler. The set belongs to the Diamond & Pearl series. It was released on February 1, 2008. The printed size is 106, and the checklist is the same length. The listed rarity is Rare.

The attack Dream Catcher lists no damage number. The cost is Colorless, Colorless. If the Defending Pokémon is Asleep, move all damage counters from Hypno to the Defending Pokémon. Hypnoblast is another attack lists 60 damage. The cost is Psychic, Psychic, Colorless. The Defending Pokémon is now Asleep. Weakness is Psychic +20. Retreat cost is 2. The flavor text reads "Seeing its swinging pendulum can induce sleep in three seconds, even if someone just woke up."

Hypno (#097) has 23 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 20 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2026. The earliest other card is Hypno 8/62 in Fossil (1999). That card lists 90 HP, and this one lists 80 HP. The rarity there is Rare Holo, and here it is Rare. Ken Sugimori illustrated that card, and Mitsuhiro Arita illustrated this one. 19 other cards of Hypno list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads Mitsuhiro Arita. I count 721 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

Great Encounters set binder is where a full Great Encounters set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Hypno can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). Themed lists that include this exact card are Mitsuhiro Arita cards. I still need this card.
