Latios 23/106 · Great Encounters

Great Encounters is a set in the Diamond & Pearl series. It was released on February 1, 2008. The printed size is 106, and the checklist is the same length. Latios is 23/106, in position 23 of 106 on this checklist. Before it is 22 Latias, and after it is 24 Mawile. The listed rarity is Rare.

Latios is a Basic Colorless Pokémon with 90 HP. The card lists level 47. In the Pokédex this is Latios (#381), generation 3 (Hoenn).

Daisuke Ito illustrated this card. The same name is on 47 other cards in the catalog.

Latios (#381) has 36 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 22 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2003 to 2025. The earliest other card is Latios 15/40 in Nintendo Black Star Promos (2003). That card lists 80 HP, and this one lists 90 HP. The rarity there is Promo, and here it is Rare. Ken Sugimori illustrated that card, and Daisuke Ito illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 3, and here it is 2. 34 other cards of Latios list a different HP.

The attack Energy Draw lists 10 damage. The cost is Colorless. Flip a coin. If heads, search your deck for a basic Energy card and attach it to Latios. Shuffle your deck afterward. Luster Purge is another attack lists 120 damage. The cost is Grass, Lightning, Colorless, Colorless. Discard 3 Energy attached to Latios. Weakness is Colorless +20. Resistance is Fighting -20. Retreat cost is 2. The flavor text reads "A highly intelligent Pokémon. By folding back its wings in flight, it can overtake jet planes."

I keep a set binder for Great Encounters, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Great Encounters set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Latios can fill a slot in Generation 3 binder (Hoenn). I still need this card.
