Salamence 8/20 · Dragon Vault

Dragon Vault is a set in the Black & White series. It was released on October 5, 2012. The printed size is 20. This checklist is longer, at 21 cards. Salamence is 8/20, in position 8 of 21 on this checklist. Before it is 7 Shelgon, and after it is 9 Latias. The listed rarity is Rare Holo.

Salamence is a Stage 2 Dragon Pokémon with 140 HP. In the Pokédex this is Salamence (#373), generation 3 (Hoenn). The card says it evolves from Shelgon. In this catalog that name is Shelgon (#372).

BERUBURI illustrated this card. The same name is on 4 other cards in the catalog.

Salamence (#373) has 30 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 18 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2003 to 2026. The earliest other card is Salamence 10/97 in Dragon (2003). That card lists 120 HP, and this one lists 140 HP. Both list the rarity Rare Holo. Mitsuhiro Arita illustrated that card, and BERUBURI illustrated this one. 27 other cards of Salamence list a different HP.

Scornful Storm is listed as Ability. Once during your turn (before your attack), you may have your opponent discard cards from his or her hand until he or she has 4 cards left in his or her hand. The attack Shred lists 90 damage. The cost is Fire, Water, Colorless, Colorless. This attack's damage isn't affected by any effects on the Defending Pokémon. Weakness is Dragon ×2. Retreat cost is 2. The flavor text reads "As a result of its long-held dream of flying, its cellular structure changed, and wings grew out."

I keep a set binder for Dragon Vault, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Dragon Vault set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Salamence can fill a slot in Generation 3 binder (Hoenn). I still need this card.
