Butterfree 5/165 · Expedition Base Set

Expedition Base Set is a set in the E-Card series. It was released on September 15, 2002. The printed size is 165, and the checklist is the same length. Butterfree is 5/165, in position 5 of 165 on this checklist. Before it is 4 Blastoise, and after it is 6 Charizard. The listed rarity is Rare Holo.

Butterfree is a Stage 2 Grass Pokémon with 80 HP. In the Pokédex this is Butterfree (#012), generation 1 (Kanto). The card says it evolves from Metapod. In this catalog that name is Metapod (#011).

Sumiyoshi Kizuki illustrated this card. The same name is on 212 other cards in the catalog.

Butterfree (#012) has 24 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 21 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2025. The earliest other card is Butterfree 33/64 in Jungle (1999). That card lists 70 HP, and this one lists 80 HP. The rarity there is Uncommon, and here it is Rare Holo. Kagemaru Himeno illustrated that card, and Sumiyoshi Kizuki illustrated this one. 21 other cards of Butterfree list a different HP.

Miraculous Powder is listed as Poké-Power. Once during your turn (before your attack), you may remove all Special Conditions from your Active Pokémon. This power can't be used if Butterfree is affected by a Special Condition. The attack Spiral Drain lists 40 damage. The cost is Grass, Colorless, Colorless. Flip a coin. If heads, remove 2 damage counters from Butterfree. Weakness is Fire ×2.

I keep a set binder for Expedition Base Set, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Expedition Base Set set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Butterfree can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). I still need this card.
