Raichu 61/165 · Expedition Base Set

Expedition Base Set is a set in the E-Card series. It was released on September 15, 2002. The printed size is 165, and the checklist is the same length. Raichu is 61/165, in position 61 of 165 on this checklist. Before it is 60 Poliwrath, and after it is 62 Rapidash. The listed rarity is Rare.

Raichu is a Stage 1 Lightning Pokémon with 80 HP. In the Pokédex this is Raichu (#026), generation 1 (Kanto). The card says it evolves from Pikachu. In this catalog that name is Pikachu (#025).

Atsuko Nishida illustrated this card. The same name is on 408 other cards in the catalog.

Raichu (#026) has 70 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 52 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2026. The earliest other card is Raichu 14/102 in Base (1999). Both list 80 HP. The rarity there is Rare Holo, and here it is Rare. Ken Sugimori illustrated that card, and Atsuko Nishida illustrated this one. 58 other cards of Raichu list a different HP.

The attack Plasma lists 10 damage. The cost is Colorless. If there are any Lightning Energy cards in your discard pile, flip a coin. If heads, attach 1 of them to Raichu. Shock Bolt is another attack lists 60 damage. The cost is Lightning, Lightning, Colorless. Discard all Lightning Energy cards attached to Raichu or this attack does nothing. Weakness is Fighting ×2. Retreat cost is 1.

I keep a set binder for Expedition Base Set, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Expedition Base Set set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Raichu can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). I still need this card.
