Poliwrath 11/115 · Unseen Forces

Poliwrath is Pokédex #062, generation 1 (Kanto). Poliwrath is a Stage 2 Fighting Pokémon with 120 HP. The card says it evolves from Poliwhirl. In this catalog that name is Poliwhirl (#061).

Poliwrath sits at 11/115 in Unseen Forces, position 13 of 145. Before it is 10 Octillery, and after it is 12 Porygon2. The set belongs to the EX series. It was released on August 1, 2005. The printed size is 115. This checklist is longer, at 145 cards. The listed rarity is Rare Holo.

Spiral Swirl is listed as Poké-Body. If Poliwrath is your Active Pokémon and is Knocked Out by damage from an opponent's attack, the Attacking Pokémon is now Confused. The attack Beatdown lists 40+ damage. The cost is Fighting, Colorless. If the Defending Pokémon is a Darkness Pokémon or has Dark in its name, this attack does 40 damage plus 30 more damage. Hyper Splash is another attack lists 60+ damage. The cost is Water, Colorless, Colorless. If the Defending Pokémon is a Stage 2 Evolved Pokémon, this attack does 60 damage plus 30 more damage. Weakness is Psychic ×2. Retreat cost is 2.

Poliwrath (#062) has 19 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 16 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2024. The earliest other card is Poliwrath 13/102 in Base (1999). That card lists 90 HP, and this one lists 120 HP. Both list the rarity Rare Holo. Ken Sugimori illustrated that card, and Hajime Kusajima illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 3, and here it is 2. 18 other cards of Poliwrath list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads Hajime Kusajima. I count 206 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

Unseen Forces set binder is where a full Unseen Forces set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Poliwrath can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). I still need this card.
