Raichu ex 98/100 · Sandstorm

Raichu is Pokédex #026, generation 1 (Kanto). Raichu ex is a Stage 1 ex Lightning Pokémon with 100 HP. The card says it evolves from Pikachu. In this catalog that name is Pikachu (#025).

Raichu ex sits at 98/100 in Sandstorm, position 98 of 100. Before it is 97 Kabutops ex, and after it is 99 Typhlosion ex. The set belongs to the EX series. It was released on September 18, 2003. The printed size is 100, and the checklist is the same length. The listed rarity is Rare Holo EX.

The attack Dazzle Blast lists 20 damage. The cost is Lightning. Flip a coin. If heads, the Defending Pokémon is now Confused. Mega Thunderbolt is another attack lists 120 damage. The cost is Lightning, Lightning, Colorless. Discard all Energy cards attached to Raichu ex. Weakness is Fighting ×2. Retreat cost is 1. The card text says: When Pokémon-ex has been Knocked Out, your opponent takes 2 Prize cards.

Raichu (#026) has 70 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 51 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2026. The earliest other card is Raichu 14/102 in Base (1999). That card is named Raichu, while this one is Raichu ex. That card lists 80 HP, and this one lists 100 HP. The rarity there is Rare Holo, and here it is Rare Holo EX. Ken Sugimori illustrated that card, and Ryo Ueda illustrated this one. 66 other cards of Raichu list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads Ryo Ueda. I count 462 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

Sandstorm set binder is where a full Sandstorm set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Raichu can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). I still need this card.
