Dark Ariados 30/109 · Team Rocket Returns

Team Rocket Returns is a set in the EX series. It was released on November 1, 2004. The printed size is 109. This checklist is longer, at 111 cards. Dark Ariados is 30/109, in position 30 of 111 on this checklist. Before it is 29 Dark Arbok, and after it is 31 Dark Dragonair. The listed rarity is Uncommon.

Dark Ariados is a Stage 1 Grass Darkness Pokémon with 70 HP. In the Pokédex this is Ariados (#168), generation 2 (Johto). The card says it evolves from Spinarak. In this catalog that name is Spinarak (#167).

Kyoko Koizumi illustrated this card. The same name is on 14 other cards in the catalog.

Ariados (#168) has 17 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 16 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2000 to 2026. The earliest other card is Ariados 27/111 in Neo Genesis (2000). That card is named Ariados, while this one is Dark Ariados. That card lists 60 HP, and this one lists 70 HP. Both list the rarity Uncommon. Ken Sugimori illustrated that card, and Kyoko Koizumi illustrated this one. 12 other cards of Ariados list a different HP.

The attack Super Poison Breath lists no damage number. The cost is Colorless. Each Defending Pokémon is now Poisoned. Breaking Impact is another attack lists no damage number. The cost is Grass, Colorless, Colorless. Choose 1 of your opponent's Pokémon. This attack does 20 damage for each Colorless Energy in that Pokémon's Retreat Cost (after applying effects to the Retreat Cost). (Don't apply Weakness and Resistance for Benched Pokémon.) Weakness is Fire ×2. Retreat cost is 1. The card text says: This Pokémon is both Grass Darkness type.

I keep a set binder for Team Rocket Returns, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Team Rocket Returns set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Ariados can fill a slot in Generation 2 binder (Johto). Themed lists that include this exact card are Team Rocket cards. I still need this card.
