Misty's Dewgong 54/132 · Gym Challenge

Dewgong is Pokédex #087, generation 1 (Kanto). Misty's Dewgong is a Stage 1 Water Pokémon with 80 HP. The card lists level 40. The card says it evolves from Misty's Seel. In this catalog that name is Seel (#086).

Misty's Dewgong sits at 54/132 in Gym Challenge, position 54 of 132. Before it is 53 Lt. Surge's Raticate, and after it is 55 Sabrina's Haunter. The set belongs to the Gym series. It was released on October 16, 2000. The printed size is 132, and the checklist is the same length. The listed rarity is Uncommon.

The attack Ice Throw lists 20 damage. The cost is Water, Water. If the Defending Pokémon is Fighting, this attack's base damage is doubled. Take Down is another attack lists 60 damage. The cost is Water, Colorless, Colorless, Colorless. Misty's Dewgong does 20 damage to itself. Weakness is Lightning ×2. Retreat cost is 2.

Dewgong (#087) has 18 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 16 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2026. The earliest other card is Dewgong 25/102 in Base (1999). That card is named Dewgong, while this one is Misty's Dewgong. Both list 80 HP. Both list the rarity Uncommon. Mitsuhiro Arita illustrated that card, and Ken Sugimori illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 3, and here it is 2. 10 other cards of Dewgong list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads Ken Sugimori. I count 1,112 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

Gym Challenge set binder is where a full Gym Challenge set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Dewgong can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). Themed lists that include this exact card are Trainer's Pokémon, Kanto Gym Leaders and their Pokémon, and Misty and her Pokémon. I still need this card.
