Pichu 28/123 · HeartGold & SoulSilver

Pichu is Pokédex #172, generation 2 (Johto). Pichu is a Basic Lightning Pokémon with 30 HP. The card lists Pikachu, Pikachu (#025) under evolves to.

Pichu sits at 28/123 in HeartGold & SoulSilver, position 28 of 124. Before it is 27 Persian, and after it is 29 Sandslash. The set belongs to the HeartGold & SoulSilver series. It was released on February 10, 2010. The printed size is 123. This checklist is longer, at 124 cards. The listed rarity is Rare.

Sweet Sleeping Face is listed as Poké-Body. As long as Pichu is Asleep, prevent all damage done to Pichu by attacks. The attack Playground lists no damage number. Each player may search his or her deck for as many Basic Pokémon as he or she likes, put them onto his or her Bench, and shuffle his or her deck afterward. (You put your Pokémon on the Bench first.) Pichu is now Asleep. The flavor text reads "Despite its small size, it can zap even adult humans. However, if it does so, it also surprises itself."

Pichu (#172) has 14 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 13 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2025. The earliest other card is Pichu 35/53 in Wizards Black Star Promos (1999). Both list 30 HP. The rarity there is Promo, and here it is Rare. Ken Sugimori illustrated that card, and match illustrated this one. 9 other cards of Pichu list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads match. I count 143 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

HeartGold & SoulSilver set binder is where a full HeartGold & SoulSilver set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Pichu can fill a slot in Generation 2 binder (Johto). Themed lists that include this exact card are Baby Pokémon and Pikachu's friends. I still need this card.
