Politoed 7/95 · HS—Unleashed

Politoed is Pokédex #186, generation 2 (Johto). Politoed is a Stage 2 Water Pokémon with 120 HP. The card says it evolves from Poliwhirl. In this catalog that name is Poliwhirl (#061).

Politoed sits at 7/95 in HS—Unleashed, position 7 of 96. Before it is 6 Octillery, and after it is 8 Shaymin. The set belongs to the HeartGold & SoulSilver series. It was released on May 12, 2010. The printed size is 95. This checklist is longer, at 96 cards. The listed rarity is Rare Holo.

Leap Frog is listed as Poké-Power. Once during your turn (before your attack), you may choose a Water Pokémon on your Bench and switch it with your Active Pokémon. This power can't be used if Politoed is affected by a Special Condition. The attack Big Chorus lists 30× damage. The cost is Water, Colorless, Colorless. Flip a coin for each Water Pokémon you have in play. This attack does 30 damage times the number of heads. Weakness is Lightning ×2. Retreat cost is 2. The flavor text reads "Whenever three or more of these get together, they sing in a loud voice that sounds like bellowing."

Politoed (#186) has 9 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 7 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2001 to 2022. The earliest other card is Politoed 8/75 in Neo Discovery (2001). That card lists 100 HP, and this one lists 120 HP. Both list the rarity Rare Holo. Tomokazu Komiya illustrated that card, and Naoyo Kimura illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 3, and here it is 2. 8 other cards of Politoed list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads Naoyo Kimura. I count 256 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

HS—Unleashed set binder is where a full HS—Unleashed set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Politoed can fill a slot in Generation 2 binder (Johto). I still need this card.
