Scizor 29/75 · Neo Discovery

Neo Discovery is a set in the Neo series. It was released on June 1, 2001. The printed size is 75, and the checklist is the same length. Scizor is 29/75, in position 29 of 75 on this checklist. Before it is 28 Poliwrath, and after it is 30 Smeargle. The listed rarity is Rare.

Scizor is a Stage 1 Metal Pokémon with 80 HP. The card lists level 43. In the Pokédex this is Scizor (#212), generation 2 (Johto). The card says it evolves from Scyther. In this catalog that name is Scyther (#123).

Kimiya Masago illustrated this card. The same name is on 24 other cards in the catalog.

Scizor (#212) has 35 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 23 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2026. The earliest other card is Scizor 33/53 in Wizards Black Star Promos (1999). That card lists 70 HP, and this one lists 80 HP. The rarity there is Promo, and here it is Rare. Hironobu Yoshida illustrated that card, and Kimiya Masago illustrated this one. 31 other cards of Scizor list a different HP.

The attack False Swipe lists ? damage. The cost is Metal. Does damage equal to half the Defending Pokémon's remaining HP (rounded down to the nearest 10). Double Claw is another attack lists 20+ damage. The cost is Colorless, Colorless, Colorless. Flip 2 coins. This attack does 20 damage times the number of heads. Weakness is Fire ×2. Resistance is Grass -30. Retreat cost is 2. The flavor text reads "It swings its eye patterned pincers up to scare its foes. This makes it look like it has three heads."

I keep a set binder for Neo Discovery, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Neo Discovery set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Scizor can fill a slot in Generation 2 binder (Johto). I still need this card.
