Shining Charizard 107/105 · Neo Destiny

Charizard is Pokédex #006, generation 1 (Kanto). Shining Charizard is a Basic Fire Pokémon with 100 HP. The card lists level 61.

Shining Charizard sits at 107/105 in Neo Destiny, position 107 of 113. Before it is 106 Shining Celebi, and after it is 108 Shining Kabutops. The set belongs to the Neo series. It was released on February 28, 2002. The printed size is 105. This checklist is longer, at 113 cards. The collector number is above the printed set size of 105. The listed rarity is Rare Shining.

The attack White-hot Flame lists 100 damage. The cost is Fire, Fire, Fire, Lightning, Lightning. Discard 1 Fire Energy card and 1 Lightning Energy card attached to Shining Charizard or this attack does nothing. Flip a coin. If tails, Shining Charizard does 30 damage to itself. Weakness is Water ×2. Resistance is Fighting -30. Retreat cost is 3. The card text says: You can't have more than 1 Shining Charizard in your deck. The flavor text reads "The flames it breathes are so hot that they can melt anything."

Charizard (#006) has 106 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 50 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2026. The earliest other card is Charizard 4/102 in Base (1999). That card is named Charizard, while this one is Shining Charizard. That card lists 120 HP, and this one lists 100 HP. The rarity there is Rare Holo, and here it is Rare Shining. Mitsuhiro Arita illustrated that card, and Hironobu Yoshida illustrated this one. 103 other cards of Charizard list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads Hironobu Yoshida. I count 38 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

Neo Destiny set binder is where a full Neo Destiny set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Charizard can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). Themed lists that include this exact card are All Charizard cards. I still need this card.
