Dark Tyranitar 11/105 · Neo Destiny

Tyranitar is Pokédex #248, generation 2 (Johto). Dark Tyranitar is a Stage 2 Fighting Pokémon with 90 HP. The card lists level 47. The card says it evolves from Dark Pupitar. In this catalog that name is Pupitar (#247).

Dark Tyranitar sits at 11/105 in Neo Destiny, position 11 of 113. Before it is 10 Dark Typhlosion, and after it is 12 Light Arcanine. The set belongs to the Neo series. It was released on February 28, 2002. The printed size is 105. This checklist is longer, at 113 cards. The listed rarity is Rare Holo.

The attack Mountain Smasher lists 20× damage. The cost is Fighting. Flip a number of coins equal to the number of Fighting Energy cards attached to Dark Tyranitar. This attack does 20 damage times the number of heads. Then, for each heads, discard the top card from your opponent's deck. Fling Away is another attack lists 50 damage. The cost is Fighting, Fighting, Fighting, Colorless. If your opponent has any Benched Pokémon, this attack does 30 damage instead of 50 and choose 1 of those Benched Pokémon. This attack does 30 damage to that Pokémon. (Don't apply Weakness and Resistance for Benched Pokémon.) Weakness is Grass ×2. Resistance is Lightning -30. Retreat cost is 3. The flavor text reads "Its power is such that not even mountains can stand in its way."

Tyranitar (#248) has 47 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 30 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2001 to 2026. The earliest other card is Tyranitar 12/75 in Neo Discovery (2001). That card is named Tyranitar, while this one is Dark Tyranitar. That card lists 100 HP, and this one lists 90 HP. Both list the rarity Rare Holo. Hironobu Yoshida illustrated that card, and Shin-ichi Yoshida illustrated this one. 47 other cards of Tyranitar list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads Shin-ichi Yoshida. I count 50 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

Neo Destiny set binder is where a full Neo Destiny set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Tyranitar can fill a slot in Generation 2 binder (Johto). Themed lists that include this exact card are Team Rocket cards. I still need this card.
