Shining Noctowl 110/105 · Neo Destiny

Noctowl is Pokédex #164, generation 2 (Johto). Shining Noctowl is a Basic Colorless Pokémon with 60 HP. The card lists level 24.

Shining Noctowl sits at 110/105 in Neo Destiny, position 110 of 113. Before it is 109 Shining Mewtwo, and after it is 111 Shining Raichu. The set belongs to the Neo series. It was released on February 28, 2002. The printed size is 105. This checklist is longer, at 113 cards. The collector number is above the printed set size of 105. The listed rarity is Rare Shining.

The attack Flashing Eyes lists 30 damage. The cost is Psychic, Lightning, Colorless. Flip 3 coins. If exactly 1 is heads, the Defending Pokémon is now Asleep. If exactly 2 are heads, the Defending Pokémon is now Confused. If all 3 are heads, the Defending Pokémon is now Paralyzed. Weakness is Lightning ×2. Resistance is Fighting -30. Retreat cost is 1. The card text says: You can't have more than 1 Shining Noctowl in your deck. The flavor text reads "It speeds up its thought processes by turning its head around 180 degrees."

Noctowl (#164) has 18 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 18 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2000 to 2025. The earliest other card is Noctowl 42/111 in Neo Genesis (2000). That card is named Noctowl, while this one is Shining Noctowl. Both list 60 HP. The rarity there is Uncommon, and here it is Rare Shining. 17 other cards of Noctowl list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads Ken Sugimori. I count 1,112 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

Neo Destiny set binder is where a full Neo Destiny set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Noctowl can fill a slot in Generation 2 binder (Johto). I still need this card.
