Dark Houndoom 7/105 · Neo Destiny

Neo Destiny is a set in the Neo series. It was released on February 28, 2002. The printed size is 105. This checklist is longer, at 113 cards. Dark Houndoom is 7/105, in position 7 of 113 on this checklist. Before it is 6 Dark Gengar, and after it is 8 Dark Porygon2. The listed rarity is Rare Holo.

Dark Houndoom is a Stage 1 Fire Pokémon with 60 HP. The card lists level 32. In the Pokédex this is Houndoom (#229), generation 2 (Johto). The card says it evolves from Houndour. In this catalog that name is Houndour (#228).

Kagemaru Himeno illustrated this card. The same name is on 656 other cards in the catalog.

Houndoom (#229) has 44 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 29 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2001 to 2025. The earliest other card is Houndoom 4/75 in Neo Discovery (2001). That card is named Houndoom, while this one is Dark Houndoom. That card lists 70 HP, and this one lists 60 HP. Both list the rarity Rare Holo. Shin-ichi Yoshida illustrated that card, and Kagemaru Himeno illustrated this one. 44 other cards of Houndoom list a different HP.

The attack Eerie Howl lists no damage number. The cost is Colorless. If your opponent's Bench isn't full, look at his or her hand. If your opponent has any Baby Pokémon or Basic Pokémon there, choose 1 of them and put it on his or her Bench. Then, switch it with the Defending Pokémon. Dark Fire is another attack lists 30+ damage. The cost is Fire, Colorless. If there are any Darkness Energy cards attached to Dark Houndoom, discard 1 of them and this attack does 30 damage plus 20 more damage (plus 10 more damage for the Darkness Energy you discarded). If there aren't any, this attack does 30 damage. Weakness is Water ×2. Retreat cost is 1. The flavor text reads "The flame it breathes is actually a volatile poison it produces internally that ignites when exposed to air."

I keep a set binder for Neo Destiny, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Neo Destiny set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Houndoom can fill a slot in Generation 2 binder (Johto). Themed lists that include this exact card are Team Rocket cards. I still need this card.
