Suicune 30/40 · Nintendo Black Star Promos

Nintendo Black Star Promos is a set in the NP series. It was released on October 1, 2003. The printed size is 40, and the checklist is the same length. Suicune is 30/40, in position 30 of 40 on this checklist. Before it is 29 Celebi, and after it is 31 Moltres ex. The listed rarity is Promo.

Suicune is a Basic Water Pokémon with 70 HP. In the Pokédex this is Suicune (#245), generation 2 (Johto).

Atsuko Nishida illustrated this card. The same name is on 408 other cards in the catalog.

Suicune (#245) has 30 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 21 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2025. The earliest other card is Suicune 53/53 in Wizards Black Star Promos (1999). Both list 70 HP. Both list the rarity Promo. 24 other cards of Suicune list a different HP.

Pure Body is listed as Poké-Body. Whenever you attach a Water Energy card from your hand to Suicune, discard an Energy card attached to Suicune. (You can't attach a Water Energy card from your hand if Suicune has no Energy cards attached.) The attack Hypno Wave lists 30+ damage. The cost is Water, Colorless, Colorless. Flip a coin. If heads, this attack does 30 damage plus 20 more damage. If tails, this attack does 30 damage and the Defending Pokémon is now Asleep. Weakness is Lightning ×2. Retreat cost is 1.

I keep a set binder for Nintendo Black Star Promos, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Nintendo Black Star Promos set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Suicune can fill a slot in Generation 2 binder (Johto). I still need this card.
