Alakazam E4 38/111 · Rising Rivals

Rising Rivals is a set in the Platinum series. It was released on May 16, 2009. The printed size is 111. This checklist is longer, at 120 cards. Alakazam E4 is 38/111, in position 38 of 120 on this checklist. Before it is 37 Yanmega E4, and after it is 39 Electrode G. The listed rarity is Uncommon.

Alakazam E4 is a Basic SP Psychic Pokémon with 80 HP. The card lists level 56. In the Pokédex this is Alakazam (#065), generation 1 (Kanto).

Mitsuhiro Arita illustrated this card. The same name is on 721 other cards in the catalog.

Alakazam (#065) has 28 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 19 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2025. The earliest other card is Alakazam 1/102 in Base (1999). That card is named Alakazam, while this one is Alakazam E4. Both list 80 HP. The rarity there is Rare Holo, and here it is Uncommon. Ken Sugimori illustrated that card, and Mitsuhiro Arita illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 3, and here it is 1. 23 other cards of Alakazam list a different HP.

The attack Recover lists no damage number. The cost is Psychic. Discard a Psychic Energy attached to Alakazam E4 and remove 4 damage counters from Alakazam E4. Mysterious Beam is another attack lists 30 damage. The cost is Psychic, Colorless, Colorless. Flip a coin. If heads, discard an Energy card attached to the Defending Pokémon. Weakness is Psychic ×2. Retreat cost is 1.

I keep a set binder for Rising Rivals, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Rising Rivals set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Alakazam can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). Themed lists that include this exact card are Mitsuhiro Arita cards. I still need this card.
