Vileplume 6/147 · Burning Shadows

Burning Shadows is a set in the Sun & Moon series. It was released on August 5, 2017. The printed size is 147. This checklist is longer, at 177 cards. Vileplume is 6/147, in position 6 of 177 on this checklist. Before it is 5 Gloom, and after it is 7 Tangela. The listed rarity is Rare Holo.

Vileplume is a Stage 2 Grass Pokémon with 140 HP. In the Pokédex this is Vileplume (#045), generation 1 (Kanto). The card says it evolves from Gloom. In this catalog that name is Gloom (#044).

chibi illustrated this card. The same name is on 40 other cards in the catalog.

Vileplume (#045) has 25 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 19 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2026. The earliest other card is Vileplume 15/64 in Jungle (1999). That card lists 80 HP, and this one lists 140 HP. Both list the rarity Rare Holo. Keiji Kinebuchi illustrated that card, and chibi illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 2, and here it is 3. 20 other cards of Vileplume list a different HP.

Disgusting Pollen is listed as Ability. As long as this Pokémon is your Active Pokémon, your opponent's Basic Pokémon can't attack. The attack Downer Shock lists 60 damage. The cost is Grass, Grass, Colorless. Flip a coin. If heads, your opponent's Active Pokémon is now Asleep. If tails, your opponent's Active Pokémon is now Confused. Weakness is Fire ×2. Retreat cost is 3. The flavor text reads "The larger its petals, the more toxic pollen it contains. Its big head is heavy and hard to hold up."

I keep a set binder for Burning Shadows, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Burning Shadows set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Vileplume can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). I still need this card.
