Alolan Raticate 82/147 · Burning Shadows

Burning Shadows is a set in the Sun & Moon series. It was released on August 5, 2017. The printed size is 147. This checklist is longer, at 177 cards. Alolan Raticate is 82/147, in position 84 of 177 on this checklist. Before it is 81 Alolan Rattata, and after it is 83 Alolan Grimer. The listed rarity is Rare.

Alolan Raticate is a Stage 1 Darkness Pokémon with 120 HP. In the Pokédex this is Raticate (#020), generation 1 (Kanto). The card says it evolves from Alolan Rattata. In this catalog that name is Rattata (#019).

Kouki Saitou illustrated this card. The same name is on 652 other cards in the catalog.

Raticate (#020) has 28 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 25 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2026. The earliest other card is Raticate 40/102 in Base (1999). That card is named Raticate, while this one is Alolan Raticate. That card lists 60 HP, and this one lists 120 HP. The rarity there is Uncommon, and here it is Rare. Ken Sugimori illustrated that card, and Kouki Saitou illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 1, and here it is 3. 26 other cards of Raticate list a different HP.

The attack Enhanced Fang lists 10+ damage. If this Pokémon has a Pokémon Tool card attached to it, this attack does 50 more damage. Hyper Fang is another attack lists 60 damage. The cost is Darkness. Flip a coin. If tails, this attack does nothing. Weakness is Fighting ×2. Resistance is Psychic -20. Retreat cost is 3. The flavor text reads "It forms a group of Rattata, which it assumes command of. Each group has its own territory, and disputes over food happen often."

I keep a set binder for Burning Shadows, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Burning Shadows set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Raticate can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). Themed lists that include this exact card are Alolan forms. I still need this card.
