Ho-Oh-GX SM57/248 · SM Black Star Promos

Ho-Oh is Pokédex #250, generation 2 (Johto). Ho-Oh-GX is a Basic GX Fire Pokémon with 190 HP.

Ho-Oh-GX sits at SM57/248 in SM Black Star Promos, position 58 of 251. Before it is SM56 Tsareena-GX, and after it is SM58 Necrozma-GX. The set belongs to the Sun & Moon series. It was released on February 3, 2017. The printed size is 248. This checklist is longer, at 251 cards. The listed rarity is Promo.

The attack Sacred Fire lists no damage number. The cost is Fire, Colorless, Colorless. This attack does 50 damage to 1 of your opponent's Pokémon. (Don't apply Weakness and Resistance for Benched Pokémon.) Phoenix Burn is another attack lists 180 damage. The cost is Fire, Fire, Fire, Colorless. This Pokémon can't use Phoenix Burn during your next turn. Eternal Light-GX is another attack lists no damage number. The cost is Fire, Colorless, Colorless. Put 3 in any combination of Fire Pokémon-GX or Fire Pokémon-EX from your discard pile onto your Bench. (You can't use more than 1 GX attack in a game.) Weakness is Lightning ×2. Resistance is Fighting -20. Retreat cost is 2. The card text says: Pokémon-GX rule: When your Pokémon-GX is Knocked Out, your opponent takes 2 Prize cards.

Ho-Oh (#250) has 37 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 24 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2026. The earliest other card is Ho-oh 52/53 in Wizards Black Star Promos (1999). That card is named Ho-oh, while this one is Ho-Oh-GX. That card lists 80 HP, and this one lists 190 HP. Both list the rarity Promo. Mitsuhiro Arita illustrated that card, and 5ban Graphics illustrated this one. 33 other cards of Ho-Oh list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads 5ban Graphics. I count 1,629 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

SM Black Star Promos set binder is where a full SM Black Star Promos set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Ho-Oh can fill a slot in Generation 2 binder (Johto). I still need this card.
