Houndour 33/198 · Scarlet & Violet

Houndour is Pokédex #228, generation 2 (Johto). Houndour is a Basic Fire Pokémon with 70 HP.

Houndour sits at 33/198 in Scarlet & Violet, position 33 of 258. Before it is 32 Arcanine ex, and after it is 34 Houndoom. The set belongs to the Scarlet & Violet series. It was released on March 31, 2023. The printed size is 198. This checklist is longer, at 258 cards. The listed rarity is Common.

The attack Bite lists 10 damage. The cost is Colorless. Flare is another attack lists 30 damage. The cost is Fire, Colorless. Weakness is Water ×2. Retreat cost is 1. The flavor text reads "It uses different kinds of cries for communicating with others of its kind and for pursuing its prey." The regulation mark is G.

Houndour (#228) has 31 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 22 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2001 to 2025. The earliest other card is Houndour 5/75 in Neo Discovery (2001). That card lists 50 HP, and this one lists 70 HP. The rarity there is Rare Holo, and here it is Common. Aya Kusube illustrated that card, and nagimiso illustrated this one. 27 other cards of Houndour list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads nagimiso. I count 156 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

Scarlet & Violet set binder is where a full Scarlet & Violet set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Houndour can fill a slot in Generation 2 binder (Johto). I still need this card.
