Team Rocket's Ampharos 74/182 · Destined Rivals

Destined Rivals is a set in the Scarlet & Violet series. It was released on May 30, 2025. The printed size is 182. This checklist is longer, at 244 cards. Team Rocket's Ampharos is 74/182, in position 74 of 244 on this checklist. Before it is 73 Team Rocket's Flaaffy, and after it is 75 Electrike. The listed rarity is Uncommon.

Team Rocket's Ampharos is a Stage 2 Lightning Pokémon with 140 HP. In the Pokédex this is Ampharos (#181), generation 2 (Johto). The card says it evolves from Team Rocket's Flaaffy. In this catalog that name is Flaaffy (#180).

Ampharos (#181) has 37 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 26 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2000 to 2026. The earliest other card is Ampharos 1/111 in Neo Genesis (2000). That card is named Ampharos, while this one is Team Rocket's Ampharos. That card lists 80 HP, and this one lists 140 HP. The rarity there is Rare Holo, and here it is Uncommon. 33 other cards of Ampharos list a different HP.

Darkest Impulse is listed as Ability. Whenever your opponent plays a Pokémon from their hand to evolve 1 of their Pokémon, put 4 damage counters on that Pokémon. The effect of Darkest Impulse doesn't stack. The attack Head Bolt lists 140 damage. The cost is Lightning, Colorless, Colorless. Weakness is Fighting ×2. Retreat cost is 2. The regulation mark is I.

I keep a set binder for Destined Rivals, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Destined Rivals set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Ampharos can fill a slot in Generation 2 binder (Johto). Themed lists that include this exact card are Trainer's Pokémon and Team Rocket cards. I still need this card.
