Lycanroc 117/197 · Obsidian Flames

Obsidian Flames is a set in the Scarlet & Violet series. It was released on August 11, 2023. The printed size is 197. This checklist is longer, at 230 cards. Lycanroc is 117/197, in position 117 of 230 on this checklist. Before it is 116 Rockruff, and after it is 118 Toedscool. The listed rarity is Uncommon.

Lycanroc is a Stage 1 Fighting Pokémon with 130 HP. In the Pokédex this is Lycanroc (#745), generation 7 (Alola). The card says it evolves from Rockruff. In this catalog that name is Rockruff (#744).

Mitsuhiro Arita illustrated this card. The same name is on 721 other cards in the catalog.

Lycanroc (#745) has 31 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 17 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2017 to 2026. The earliest other card is Lycanroc-GX SM14/248 in SM Black Star Promos (2017). That card is named Lycanroc-GX, while this one is Lycanroc. That card lists 200 HP, and this one lists 130 HP. The rarity there is Promo, and here it is Uncommon. 5ban Graphics illustrated that card, and Mitsuhiro Arita illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 1, and here it is 2. 29 other cards of Lycanroc list a different HP.

The attack Finishing Fang lists 90 damage. The cost is Fighting. If your opponent's Active Pokémon has no damage counters on it before this attack does damage, this attack does nothing. Slashing Claw is another attack lists 100 damage. The cost is Fighting, Colorless, Colorless. Weakness is Grass ×2. Retreat cost is 2. The flavor text reads "This Pokémon uses its rocky mane to slash any who approach. It will even disobey its Trainer if it dislikes the orders it was given." The regulation mark is G.

I keep a set binder for Obsidian Flames, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Obsidian Flames set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Lycanroc can fill a slot in Generation 7 binder (Alola). Themed lists that include this exact card are Mitsuhiro Arita cards. I still need this card.
