Cloyster 91/165 · 151

151 is a set in the Scarlet & Violet series. It was released on September 22, 2023. The printed size is 165. This checklist is longer, at 207 cards. Cloyster is 91/165, in position 91 of 207 on this checklist. Before it is 90 Shellder, and after it is 92 Gastly. The listed rarity is Uncommon.

Cloyster is a Stage 1 Water Pokémon with 130 HP. In the Pokédex this is Cloyster (#091), generation 1 (Kanto). The card says it evolves from Shellder. In this catalog that name is Shellder (#090).

Nelnal illustrated this card. The same name is on 18 other cards in the catalog.

Cloyster (#091) has 13 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 12 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2021. The earliest other card is Cloyster 32/62 in Fossil (1999). That card lists 50 HP, and this one lists 130 HP. Both list the rarity Uncommon. Kagemaru Himeno illustrated that card, and Nelnal illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 2, and here it is 3. 11 other cards of Cloyster list a different HP.

The attack Protect Charge lists 80 damage. The cost is Water, Water. During your opponent's next turn, this Pokémon takes 80 less damage from attacks (after applying Weakness and Resistance). Weakness is Lightning ×2. Retreat cost is 3. The flavor text reads "Cloyster that live in seas with harsh tidal currents grow large, sharp spikes on their shells." The regulation mark is G.

I keep a set binder for 151, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the 151 set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Cloyster can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). Themed lists that include this exact card are Winter: Ice Pokémon and Modern living dex: the 151. I still need this card.
