Hisuian Arcanine 100/167 · Twilight Masquerade

Arcanine is Pokédex #059, generation 1 (Kanto). Hisuian Arcanine is a Stage 1 Fighting Pokémon with 130 HP. The card says it evolves from Hisuian Growlithe. In this catalog that name is Growlithe (#058).

Hisuian Arcanine sits at 100/167 in Twilight Masquerade, position 100 of 226. Before it is 99 Hisuian Growlithe, and after it is 101 Nosepass. The set belongs to the Scarlet & Violet series. It was released on May 24, 2024. The printed size is 167. This checklist is longer, at 226 cards. The listed rarity is Rare.

The attack Proud Fangs lists 30+ damage. If your Benched Pokémon have any damage counters on them, this attack does 90 more damage. Searing Flame is another attack lists 90 damage. The cost is Fighting, Fighting, Colorless. Your opponent's Active Pokémon is now Burned. Weakness is Grass ×2. Retreat cost is 2. The flavor text reads "Snaps at its foes with fangs cloaked in blazing flame. Despite its bulk, it deftly feints every which way, leading opponents on a deceptively merry chase as it all but dances around them." The regulation mark is H.

Arcanine (#059) has 41 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 34 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2025. The earliest other card is Arcanine 23/102 in Base (1999). That card is named Arcanine, while this one is Hisuian Arcanine. That card lists 100 HP, and this one lists 130 HP. The rarity there is Uncommon, and here it is Rare. Ken Sugimori illustrated that card, and SIE NANAHARA illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 3, and here it is 2. 32 other cards of Arcanine list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads SIE NANAHARA. I count 11 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

Twilight Masquerade set binder is where a full Twilight Masquerade set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Arcanine can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). Themed lists that include this exact card are Hisuian and Paldean forms and Dog Pokémon. I still need this card.
