Wailord 38/195 · Silver Tempest

Silver Tempest is a set in the Sword & Shield series. It was released on November 11, 2022. The printed size is 195. This checklist is longer, at 215 cards. Wailord is 38/195, in position 38 of 215 on this checklist. Before it is 37 Wailmer, and after it is 39 Feebas. The listed rarity is Uncommon.

Wailord is a Stage 1 Water Pokémon with 200 HP. In the Pokédex this is Wailord (#321), generation 3 (Hoenn). The card says it evolves from Wailmer. In this catalog that name is Wailmer (#320).

Shinya Komatsu illustrated this card. The same name is on 17 other cards in the catalog.

Wailord (#321) has 23 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 18 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2003 to 2026. The earliest other card is Wailord 14/109 in Ruby & Sapphire (2003). That card lists 120 HP, and this one lists 200 HP. The rarity there is Rare Holo, and here it is Uncommon. Ken Sugimori illustrated that card, and Shinya Komatsu illustrated this one. 17 other cards of Wailord list a different HP.

Jumbo-Sized is listed as Ability. This Pokémon takes 30 less damage from attacks (after applying Weakness and Resistance). The attack Special Wave lists 120+ damage. The cost is Water, Water, Water, Colorless. If this Pokémon has any Special Energy attached, this attack does 120 more damage. Weakness is Lightning ×2. Retreat cost is 4. The flavor text reads "It can sometimes knock out opponents with the shock created by breaching and crashing its big body onto the water." The regulation mark is F.

I keep a set binder for Silver Tempest, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Silver Tempest set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Wailord can fill a slot in Generation 3 binder (Hoenn). Themed lists that include this exact card are Giant Pokémon. I still need this card.
