Morpeko VMAX 38/72 · Shining Fates

Shining Fates is a set in the Sword & Shield series. It was released on February 19, 2021. The printed size is 72. This checklist is longer, at 73 cards. Morpeko VMAX is 38/72, in position 38 of 73 on this checklist. Before it is 37 Morpeko V, and after it is 39 Indeedee V. The listed rarity is Rare Holo VMAX.

Morpeko VMAX is a VMAX Lightning Pokémon with 300 HP. In the Pokédex this is Morpeko (#877), generation 8 (Galar). The card says it evolves from Morpeko V. In this catalog that name is Morpeko (#877).

PLANETA Mochizuki illustrated this card. The same name is on 131 other cards in the catalog.

Morpeko (#877) has 36 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 14 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2019 to 2026. The earliest other card is Morpeko SWSH012/307 in SWSH Black Star Promos (2019). That card is named Morpeko, while this one is Morpeko VMAX. That card lists 80 HP, and this one lists 300 HP. The rarity there is Promo, and here it is Rare Holo VMAX. Kagemaru Himeno illustrated that card, and PLANETA Mochizuki illustrated this one. 34 other cards of Morpeko list a different HP.

The attack Max Discharge lists 180 damage. The cost is Lightning, Lightning, Colorless. This attack also does 20 damage to each of your opponent's Benched Pokémon. (Don't apply Weakness and Resistance for Benched Pokémon.) Weakness is Fighting ×2. Retreat cost is 1. The card text says: VMAX rule: When your Pokémon VMAX is Knocked Out, your opponent takes 3 Prize cards. The regulation mark is D.

I keep a set binder for Shining Fates, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Shining Fates set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Morpeko can fill a slot in Generation 8 binder (Galar). Themed lists that include this exact card are Pikachu's friends, VMAX cards, and Dedenne and Morpeko. I still need this card.
