Blastoise V SWSH101/307 · SWSH Black Star Promos

Blastoise is Pokédex #009, generation 1 (Kanto). Blastoise V is a Basic V Water Pokémon with 220 HP.

Blastoise V sits at SWSH101/307 in SWSH Black Star Promos, position 101 of 304. Before it is SWSH100 Venusaur V, and after it is SWSH102 Venusaur VMAX. The set belongs to the Sword & Shield series. It was released on November 15, 2019. The printed size is 307. This checklist is longer, at 304 cards. The listed rarity is Promo.

The attack Water Gun lists 30 damage. The cost is Water. Torrential Cannon is another attack lists 200 damage. The cost is Water, Water, Water. During your next turn, this Pokémon can't use Torrential Cannon. Weakness is Lightning ×2. Retreat cost is 3. The card text says: V rule: When your Pokémon V is Knocked Out, your opponent takes 2 Prize cards. The regulation mark is E.

Blastoise (#009) has 44 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 27 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2024. The earliest other card is Blastoise 2/102 in Base (1999). That card is named Blastoise, while this one is Blastoise V. That card lists 100 HP, and this one lists 220 HP. The rarity there is Rare Holo, and here it is Promo. Ken Sugimori illustrated that card, and 5ban Graphics illustrated this one. 40 other cards of Blastoise list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads 5ban Graphics. I count 1,629 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

SWSH Black Star Promos set binder is where a full SWSH Black Star Promos set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Blastoise can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). Themed lists that include this exact card are Kanto starters, without Charizard. I still need this card.
