M Venusaur-EX 2/146 · XY

Venusaur is Pokédex #003, generation 1 (Kanto). M Venusaur-EX is a MEGA EX Grass Pokémon with 230 HP. The card says it evolves from Venusaur-EX. In this catalog that name is Venusaur (#003).

M Venusaur-EX sits at 2/146 in XY, position 2 of 146. Before it is 1 Venusaur-EX, and after it is 3 Weedle. The set belongs to the XY series. It was released on February 5, 2014. The printed size is 146, and the checklist is the same length. The listed rarity is Rare Holo EX.

The attack Crisis Vine lists 120 damage. The cost is Grass, Grass, Grass, Colorless. Your opponent's Active Pokémon is now Paralyzed and Poisoned. Weakness is Fire ×2. Retreat cost is 4. The card text says: Mega Evolution rule: When 1 of your Pokémon becomes a Mega Evolution Pokémon, your turn ends. The card text says: Pokémon-EX rule: When a Pokémon-EX has been Knocked Out, your opponent takes 2 Prize cards.

Venusaur (#003) has 46 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 28 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2025. The earliest other card is Venusaur 15/102 in Base (1999). That card is named Venusaur, while this one is M Venusaur-EX. That card lists 100 HP, and this one lists 230 HP. The rarity there is Rare Holo, and here it is Rare Holo EX. Mitsuhiro Arita illustrated that card, and 5ban Graphics illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 2, and here it is 4. 43 other cards of Venusaur list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads 5ban Graphics. I count 1,629 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

XY set binder is where a full XY set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Venusaur can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). Themed lists that include this exact card are Kanto starters, without Charizard. I still need this card.
