M Blastoise-EX 30/146 · XY

XY is a set in the XY series. It was released on February 5, 2014. The printed size is 146, and the checklist is the same length. M Blastoise-EX is 30/146, in position 30 of 146 on this checklist. Before it is 29 Blastoise-EX, and after it is 31 Shellder. The listed rarity is Rare Holo EX.

M Blastoise-EX is a MEGA EX Water Pokémon with 220 HP. In the Pokédex this is Blastoise (#009), generation 1 (Kanto). The card says it evolves from Blastoise-EX. In this catalog that name is Blastoise (#009).

5ban Graphics illustrated this card. The same name is on 1,629 other cards in the catalog.

Blastoise (#009) has 44 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 27 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2024. The earliest other card is Blastoise 2/102 in Base (1999). That card is named Blastoise, while this one is M Blastoise-EX. That card lists 100 HP, and this one lists 220 HP. The rarity there is Rare Holo, and here it is Rare Holo EX. Ken Sugimori illustrated that card, and 5ban Graphics illustrated this one. 40 other cards of Blastoise list a different HP.

The attack Hydro Bombard lists 120 damage. The cost is Water, Water, Water. This attack does 30 damage to 2 of your opponent's Benched Pokémon. (Don't apply Weakness and Resistance for Benched Pokémon.) Weakness is Grass ×2. Retreat cost is 3. The card text says: Mega Evolution rule: When 1 of your Pokémon becomes a Mega Evolution Pokémon, your turn ends. The card text says: Pokémon-EX rule: When a Pokémon-EX has been Knocked Out, your opponent takes 2 Prize cards.

I keep a set binder for XY, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the XY set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Blastoise can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). I still need this card.
