Skarmory-EX 80/146 · XY

Skarmory is Pokédex #227, generation 2 (Johto). Skarmory-EX is a Basic EX Metal Pokémon with 170 HP.

Skarmory-EX sits at 80/146 in XY, position 80 of 146. Before it is 79 Yveltal-EX, and after it is 81 Pawniard. The set belongs to the XY series. It was released on February 5, 2014. The printed size is 146, and the checklist is the same length. The listed rarity is Rare Holo EX.

The attack Joust lists 30 damage. The cost is Colorless, Colorless. Before doing damage, discard all Pokémon Tool cards attached to your opponent's Active Pokémon. Tailspin Piledriver is another attack lists 80+ damage. The cost is Metal, Metal, Colorless. If your opponent's Active Pokémon already has any damage counters on it, this attack does 40 more damage. Weakness is Fire ×2. Resistance is Psychic -20. Retreat cost is 1. The card text says: Pokémon-EX rule: When a Pokémon-EX has been Knocked Out, your opponent takes 2 Prize cards.

Skarmory (#227) has 33 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 28 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2000 to 2026. The earliest other card is Skarmory 13/111 in Neo Genesis (2000). That card is named Skarmory, while this one is Skarmory-EX. That card lists 60 HP, and this one lists 170 HP. The rarity there is Rare Holo, and here it is Rare Holo EX. Ken Sugimori illustrated that card, and Eske Yoshinob illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 2, and here it is 1. 32 other cards of Skarmory list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads Eske Yoshinob. I count 177 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

XY set binder is where a full XY set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Skarmory can fill a slot in Generation 2 binder (Johto). I still need this card.
