Gastrodon 29/114 · Steam Siege

Gastrodon is Pokédex #423, generation 4 (Sinnoh). Gastrodon is a Stage 1 Water Pokémon with 110 HP. The card says it evolves from Shellos. In this catalog that name is Shellos (#422).

Gastrodon sits at 29/114 in Steam Siege, position 29 of 116. Before it is 28 Shellos, and after it is 30 Oshawott. The set belongs to the XY series. It was released on August 3, 2016. The printed size is 114. This checklist is longer, at 116 cards. The listed rarity is Rare.

The attack Sticky Shot lists 20 damage. The cost is Water. During your opponent's next turn, the Defending Pokémon's attacks cost Colorless more, and its Retreat Cost is Colorless more. Water Pulse is another attack lists 60 damage. The cost is Water, Water, Water. Your opponent's Active Pokémon is now Asleep. Weakness is Grass ×2. Retreat cost is 2. The flavor text reads "It apparently had a huge shell for protection in ancient times. It lives in shallow tidal pools."

Gastrodon (#423) has 7 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 5 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2007 to 2024. The earliest other card is Gastrodon East Sea 8/132 in Secret Wonders (2007). That card is named Gastrodon East Sea, while this one is Gastrodon. That card lists 100 HP, and this one lists 110 HP. The rarity there is Rare Holo, and here it is Rare. Kazuyuki Kano illustrated that card, and Aya Kusube illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 4, and here it is 2. 6 other cards of Gastrodon list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads Aya Kusube. I count 127 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

Steam Siege set binder is where a full Steam Siege set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Gastrodon can fill a slot in Generation 4 binder (Sinnoh). I still need this card.
