Nidoking 45/114 · Steam Siege

Nidoking is Pokédex #034, generation 1 (Kanto). Nidoking is a Stage 2 Psychic Pokémon with 150 HP. The card says it evolves from Nidorino. In this catalog that name is Nidorino (#033).

Nidoking sits at 45/114 in Steam Siege, position 45 of 116. Before it is 44 Nidorino, and after it is 46 Drifloon. The set belongs to the XY series. It was released on August 3, 2016. The printed size is 114. This checklist is longer, at 116 cards. The listed rarity is Rare.

King's Palace is listed as Ability. Your Nidoqueen's attacks do 20 more damage to your opponent's Active Pokémon (before applying Weakness and Resistance). The attack Power Lariat lists 60+ damage. The cost is Psychic, Psychic, Colorless. This attack does 30 more damage for each Evolution Pokémon on your Bench. Weakness is Psychic ×2. Retreat cost is 4. The flavor text reads "One swing of its mighty tail can snap a telephone pole as if it were a matchstick."

Nidoking (#034) has 21 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 15 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2025. The earliest other card is Nidoking 11/102 in Base (1999). That card lists 90 HP, and this one lists 150 HP. The rarity there is Rare Holo, and here it is Rare. Ken Sugimori illustrated that card, and Mina Nakai illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 3, and here it is 4. 20 other cards of Nidoking list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads Mina Nakai. I count 77 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

Steam Siege set binder is where a full Steam Siege set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Nidoking can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). I still need this card.
