Primeape 53/114 · Steam Siege

Steam Siege is a set in the XY series. It was released on August 3, 2016. The printed size is 114. This checklist is longer, at 116 cards. Primeape is 53/114, in position 53 of 116 on this checklist. Before it is 52 Mankey, and after it is 54 Nosepass. The listed rarity is Rare.

Primeape is a Stage 1 Fighting Pokémon with 90 HP. In the Pokédex this is Primeape (#057), generation 1 (Kanto). The card says it evolves from Mankey. In this catalog that name is Mankey (#056).

Masakazu Fukuda illustrated this card. The same name is on 471 other cards in the catalog.

Primeape (#057) has 24 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 23 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2026. The earliest other card is Primeape 43/64 in Jungle (1999). That card lists 70 HP, and this one lists 90 HP. The rarity there is Uncommon, and here it is Rare. Kagemaru Himeno illustrated that card, and Masakazu Fukuda illustrated this one. 15 other cards of Primeape list a different HP.

The attack Swagger lists 20 damage. The cost is Colorless. Flip a coin. If heads, discard an Energy attached to your opponent's Active Pokémon. Spirited Throw is another attack lists 30+ damage. The cost is Fighting, Fighting. If, before doing damage, your opponent's Active Pokémon has more remaining HP than this Pokémon, this attack does 60 more damage. Weakness is Psychic ×2. Retreat cost is 1. The flavor text reads "It is always outrageously furious. If it gives chase, it will tenaciously track the target no matter how far."

I keep a set binder for Steam Siege, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Steam Siege set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Primeape can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). I still need this card.
