M Blastoise-EX 22/108 · Evolutions

Blastoise is Pokédex #009, generation 1 (Kanto). M Blastoise-EX is a MEGA EX Water Pokémon with 220 HP. The card says it evolves from Blastoise-EX. In this catalog that name is Blastoise (#009).

M Blastoise-EX sits at 22/108 in Evolutions, position 22 of 113. Before it is 21 Blastoise-EX, and after it is 23 Poliwag. The set belongs to the XY series. It was released on November 2, 2016. The printed size is 108. This checklist is longer, at 113 cards. The listed rarity is Rare Holo EX.

The attack Hydro Bombard lists 120 damage. The cost is Water, Water, Water. This attack does 30 damage to 2 of your opponent's Benched Pokémon. (Don't apply Weakness and Resistance for Benched Pokémon.) Weakness is Grass ×2. Retreat cost is 3. The card text says: Mega Evolution rule: When 1 of your Pokémon becomes a Mega Evolution Pokémon, your turn ends. The card text says: Pokémon-EX rule: When a Pokémon-EX has been Knocked Out, your opponent takes 2 Prize cards.

Blastoise (#009) has 44 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 27 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2024. The earliest other card is Blastoise 2/102 in Base (1999). That card is named Blastoise, while this one is M Blastoise-EX. That card lists 100 HP, and this one lists 220 HP. The rarity there is Rare Holo, and here it is Rare Holo EX. Ken Sugimori illustrated that card, and 5ban Graphics illustrated this one. 40 other cards of Blastoise list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads 5ban Graphics. I count 1,629 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

Evolutions set binder is where a full Evolutions set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Blastoise can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). I still need this card.
