Sandshrew 54/108 · Evolutions

Evolutions is a set in the XY series. It was released on November 2, 2016. The printed size is 108. This checklist is longer, at 113 cards. Sandshrew is 54/108, in position 54 of 113 on this checklist. Before it is 53 Mew, and after it is 55 Diglett. The listed rarity is Common.

Sandshrew is a Basic Fighting Pokémon with 60 HP. The card lists level 12. In the Pokédex this is Sandshrew (#027), generation 1 (Kanto). The card lists Sandslash, Sandslash (#028) under evolves to.

Ken Sugimori illustrated this card. The same name is on 1,112 other cards in the catalog.

Sandshrew (#027) has 24 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 22 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2025. The earliest other card is Sandshrew 62/102 in Base (1999). That card lists 40 HP, and this one lists 60 HP. Both list the rarity Common. 13 other cards of Sandshrew list a different HP.

The attack Sand Attack lists 10 damage. The cost is Fighting. If the Defending Pokémon tries to attack during your opponent's next turn, your opponent flips a coin. If tails, that attack does nothing. Weakness is Grass ×2. Retreat cost is 1. The flavor text reads "It burrows and lives underground. If threatened, it curls itself up into a ball for protection."

I keep a set binder for Evolutions, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Evolutions set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Sandshrew can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). I still need this card.
