Swellow 71/108 · Roaring Skies

Roaring Skies is a set in the XY series. It was released on May 6, 2015. The printed size is 108. This checklist is longer, at 112 cards. Swellow is 71/108, in position 71 of 112 on this checklist. Before it is 70 Taillow, and after it is 72 Swellow. The listed rarity is Rare.

Swellow is a Stage 1 Colorless Pokémon with 90 HP. In the Pokédex this is Swellow (#277), generation 3 (Hoenn). The card says it evolves from Taillow. In this catalog that name is Taillow (#276).

Sanosuke Sakuma illustrated this card. The same name is on 158 other cards in the catalog.

Swellow (#277) has 13 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 13 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2003 to 2025. The earliest other card is Swellow 46/109 in Ruby & Sapphire (2003). That card lists 70 HP, and this one lists 90 HP. The rarity there is Uncommon, and here it is Rare. Ken Sugimori illustrated that card, and Sanosuke Sakuma illustrated this one. 9 other cards of Swellow list a different HP.

The attack Clutch lists 20 damage. The cost is Colorless. The Defending Pokémon can't retreat during your opponent's next turn. Aerial Ace is another attack lists 60+ damage. The cost is Colorless, Colorless, Colorless. Flip a coin. If heads, this attack does 30 more damage. Weakness is Lightning ×2. Resistance is Fighting -20. Retreat cost is 1. The flavor text reads "It dives at a steep angle as soon as it spots its prey. It catches its prey with sharp claws."

I keep a set binder for Roaring Skies, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Roaring Skies set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Swellow can fill a slot in Generation 3 binder (Hoenn). I still need this card.
