Giratina-EX 57/98 · Ancient Origins

Giratina is Pokédex #487, generation 4 (Sinnoh). Giratina-EX is a Basic EX Dragon Pokémon with 170 HP.

Giratina-EX sits at 57/98 in Ancient Origins, position 57 of 101. Before it is 56 Whimsicott, and after it is 58 Goomy. The set belongs to the XY series. It was released on August 12, 2015. The printed size is 98. This checklist is longer, at 101 cards. The listed rarity is Rare Holo EX.

Renegade Pulse is listed as Ability. Prevent all effects of attacks, including damage, done to this Pokémon by your opponent's Mega Evolution Pokémon. The attack Chaos Wheel lists 100 damage. The cost is Grass, Psychic, Colorless, Colorless. Your opponent can't play any Pokémon Tool, Special Energy, or Stadium cards from his or her hand during his or her next turn. Weakness is Fairy ×2. Retreat cost is 3. The card text says: Pokémon-EX rule: When a Pokémon-EX has been Knocked Out, your opponent takes 2 Prize cards.

Giratina (#487) has 29 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 15 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2007 to 2023. The earliest other card is Giratina LV.X DP38/56 in DP Black Star Promos (2007). That card is named Giratina LV.X, while this one is Giratina-EX. That card lists 130 HP, and this one lists 170 HP. The rarity there is Promo, and here it is Rare Holo EX. Shizurow illustrated that card, and PLANETA illustrated this one. 28 other cards of Giratina list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads PLANETA. I count 47 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

Ancient Origins set binder is where a full Ancient Origins set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Giratina can fill a slot in Generation 4 binder (Sinnoh). Themed lists that include this exact card are Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina. I still need this card.
