Ho-Oh BREAK XY154/211 · XY Black Star Promos

Ho-Oh is Pokédex #250, generation 2 (Johto). Ho-Oh BREAK is a BREAK Fire Pokémon with 150 HP. The card says it evolves from Ho-Oh. In this catalog that name is Ho-Oh (#250).

Ho-Oh BREAK sits at XY154/211 in XY Black Star Promos, position 156 of 216. Before it is XY153 Ho-Oh, and after it is XY155 Wobbuffet BREAK. The set belongs to the XY series. It was released on October 12, 2013. The printed size is 211. This checklist is longer, at 216 cards. The listed rarity is Promo.

The attack Shining Flame lists 160 damage. The cost is Fire, Fire, Fire, Colorless, Colorless. This Pokémon can't use Shining Flame during your next turn. The card text says: BREAK Evolution Rule: Ho-Oh BREAK retains the attacks, Abilities, Weakness, Resistance, and Retreat Cost of its previous Evolution.

Ho-Oh (#250) has 37 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 24 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2026. The earliest other card is Ho-oh 52/53 in Wizards Black Star Promos (1999). That card is named Ho-oh, while this one is Ho-Oh BREAK. That card lists 80 HP, and this one lists 150 HP. Both list the rarity Promo. Mitsuhiro Arita illustrated that card, and 5ban Graphics illustrated this one. 37 other cards of Ho-Oh list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads 5ban Graphics. I count 1,629 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

XY Black Star Promos set binder is where a full XY Black Star Promos set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Ho-Oh can fill a slot in Generation 2 binder (Johto). Themed lists that include this exact card are BREAK Evolution. I still need this card.
