Abra 43/102 · Base

Base is a set in the Base series. It was released on 9 January 1999. The printed size is 102, and the checklist is the same length. Abra is 43/102, in position 43 of 102 on this checklist. Before it is 42 Wartortle, and after it is 44 Bulbasaur. The listed rarity is Common.

Abra is a Basic Psychic Pokémon with 30 HP. The card lists level 10. In the Pokédex this is Abra (#063), generation 1 (Kanto). The card lists Kadabra, Kadabra (#064) under evolves to.

Mitsuhiro Arita illustrated this card. The same name is on 721 other cards in the catalog.

Abra (#063) has 14 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 13 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2025. The earliest other card is Sabrina's Abra 19/53 in Wizards Black Star Promos (1999). That card is named Sabrina's Abra, while this one is Abra. That card lists 40 HP, and this one lists 30 HP. The rarity there is Promo, and here it is Common. Atsuko Nishida illustrated that card, and Mitsuhiro Arita illustrated this one. 12 other cards of Abra list a different HP.

The attack Psyshock lists 10 damage. The cost is Psychic. Flip a coin. If heads, the Defending Pokémon is now Paralyzed. Weakness is Psychic ×2. The flavor text reads "Using its ability to read minds, it will identify impending danger and teleport to safety."

I keep a set binder for Base, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Base set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Abra can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). Themed lists that include this exact card are Mitsuhiro Arita cards. I still need this card.
