Dodrio 37/130 · Base Set 2

Base Set 2 is a set in the Base series. It was released on 24 February 2000. The printed size is 130, and the checklist is the same length. Dodrio is 37/130, in position 37 of 130 on this checklist. Before it is 36 Dewgong, and after it is 38 Dratini. The listed rarity is Uncommon.

Dodrio is a Stage 1 Colorless Pokémon with 70 HP. The card lists level 28. In the Pokédex this is Dodrio (#085), generation 1 (Kanto). The card says it evolves from Doduo. In this catalog that name is Doduo (#084).

Mitsuhiro Arita illustrated this card. The same name is on 721 other cards in the catalog.

Dodrio (#085) has 18 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 18 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2024. The earliest other card is Dodrio 34/64 in Jungle (1999). Both list 70 HP. Both list the rarity Uncommon. 12 other cards of Dodrio list a different HP.

Retreat Aid is listed as Pokémon Power. As long as Dodrio is Benched, pay Colorless less to retreat your Active Pokémon. The attack Rage lists 10+ damage. The cost is Colorless, Colorless, Colorless. Does 10 damage plus 10 more damage for each damage counter on Dodrio. Weakness is Lightning ×2. Resistance is Fighting -30. The flavor text reads "Uses its three brains to execute complex plans. While two heads sleep, one head stays awake."

I keep a set binder for Base Set 2, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Base Set 2 set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Dodrio can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). Themed lists that include this exact card are Mitsuhiro Arita cards. I still need this card.
